  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar for dusting (optional)
  • Red and Green Sprinkles (optional)

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden brown. Centers will still be slightly soft.
  • Let cookies cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar and add sprinkles, if desired.

Notes

For extra festive flair, use Christmas-themed cookie cutters to shape the dough before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
