- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the onion and celery to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage mixture, cubed bread, chicken broth, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, pepper, and parsley (if using). Gently toss to combine.
- Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Dot the top of the stuffing with butter.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a crispier topping, broil the stuffing for the last 2-3 minutes of baking. You can also add other vegetables like carrots, mushrooms, or apples to the stuffing for added flavor and texture.
